What we built
All 114 Surahs of the Quran, verse by verse, in Arabic with audio recitation from multiple reciters and English, Tamil & Sinhala translation. A Hifz-focused Quarter Juz curriculum for memorization, prayer times sourced from ACJU for all 13 Sri Lanka zones, and a new verse to reflect on every day.
Free Quran MP3 Recitation from 12 Reciters
Every verse can be played on its own or listened to straight through, with high-quality audio from twelve reciters including Mishary Rashid Al-Afasy, Abdur-Rahman as-Sudais and Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary.
Quran Translation in Tamil, Sinhala & English
Read the Arabic alongside translation in Tamil, Sinhala or English — and in Urdu, Japanese or Chinese — switching language at any point without losing your place.
ACJU Prayer Times for All 13 Sri Lanka Zones
Fajr through Isha taken from the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama's own published monthly timetable for each of the thirteen zones, rather than calculated independently.
Hifz Quarter Juz Curriculum for Memorization
A curriculum that breaks the Quran into quarter-Juz portions, so memorization happens in consistent, manageable sittings instead of uneven chapter lengths.
Why we built it
Most Quran apps translate into English, Urdu or Arabic-adjacent languages first — Tamil and Sinhala are often an afterthought, if they're there at all. ourkithab exists to put Sri Lanka's own languages, and ACJU's own prayer times, at the center rather than the edge. It's free, has no ads, and doesn't collect personal data — see the Privacy Policy for details.
Where the translations come from
ourkithab does not produce its own translation of the Quran. Every translation shown is an existing published work, served through the Quran Foundation Content API — the same source used by Quran.com — and credited to its translator on every Surah page. The Arabic is the Uthmani script text from that same source.
